PewDiePie VS T-Series is an ongoing competition between two Youtubers, competing for the crown for the ‘Most Subscribed YouTube Channel’.

Indian record and film production company T-Series are slowly closing in on 5 years undisputed king of youtube, PewDiePie, the Swedish comedy YouTuber. PewDiePie, also known as Felix Kjellberg has had more subscribers than any other YouTube channel since August 2013.

As the battle closes in, and the looming threat of T-Series dethroning PewDiePie comes closer, many fans of both channels have taken to extreme lengths to win. One hacker under the name ‘HackerGiraffe’ gained access to thousands of printers, printing out pro-PewDiePie messages such as “PewDiePie is in trouble and he needs your help to defeat T-Series!”. The same hacker managed to hack into Google Chromecast streaming devices to display messages telling people to subscribe to PewDiePie’s channel.

This battle between two of the most popular channels has created a kind of Youtube Inception, not just anonymous fans have tried their best efforts, many well known and popular YouTubers have jumped on the hype and supported their preferred channel.

Of course, not only the fans of these YouTube stars are partaking in the dissing/hyping of the competing channels. PewDiePie and T-Series themselves have released Diss Tracks, hating on their rival channel. PewDiePie’s diss track “Bitch Lasagne” gained over 116 Million views.

The battle between PewDiePie and T-Series has brought to light how corporate media agencies are turning to social media for successful marketing strategies. T-Series is an Indian music record label and film production company, who’s popularity has now been determined via Social Media and YouTube. Could it really be a corporate entity that finally dethrones this people’s champ? Every other company watching this should surely be taking notes.
